What Trainer does

Trainer helps people follow a personalized training plan, log workouts and food, understand progress, and make small plan adjustments from the information they choose to provide. Trainer is not a medical device, medical service, diagnosis tool, or substitute for a qualified professional.

Information we collect

Depending on the features a person uses, Trainer may collect:

• Account information such as email address or a sign-in provider identifier.
• If a person uses Sign in with Apple, an encrypted Apple refresh token held on our server solely to revoke TRAINER's Apple sign-in authorization when the account is deleted.
• Profile information such as goal, starting point, schedule, training location, equipment, time available, height, weight, preferences, and selected progress signals.
• Workout information such as exercises, sets, reps, weight, duration, effort, notes, swaps, completion, and plan history.
• Food and nutrition information such as food items, portions, calories, protein, carbohydrates, fat, and macro targets.
• Photos a person chooses to submit for a meal estimate or optional progress history.
• Health summaries a person chooses to connect from Apple Health or Health Connect: steps, active calories, heart rate, sleep, body weight, and workouts. Connecting is optional, and these summaries are read on the device only. See the Apple Health and Health Connect section.
• Safety-context answers such as pain, movement limitations, pregnancy/postpartum status, or clinician restrictions. These answers help route safer behavior; they do not create a diagnosis.
• Purchase and entitlement information needed to provide subscriptions, restore access, and prevent duplicate access.
• Device, app, crash, and product-interaction information needed for security, reliability, support, and product improvement.

The exact categories and optionality are shown in the app and App Store product privacy details. We update those disclosures when our practices change.

How we use information

We use information to:

• Create and display a personalized training plan.
• Show workouts, alternatives, progress, macro targets, and weekly reviews.
• Save and sync a person's records, including offline work where supported.
• Produce an editable food-photo estimate. An estimate is not logged as a meal until the person reviews it and explicitly confirms it.
• Process purchases, trial status, restores, and access controls.
• Secure, debug, maintain, and improve the service.
• Respond to support, privacy, deletion, and legal requests.
• Revoke Sign in with Apple access during account deletion when an Apple token is available.

We do not use health, fitness, nutrition, or meal-photo information for advertising, sell it to data brokers, or use it to build unrelated advertising profiles.

Sharing

We may use service providers for hosting, authentication, payments, food data, photo estimation, analytics, crash reporting, notifications, and support. Providers may process only the information needed for their service. We do not sell personal information. We may disclose information when required by law, to protect safety or rights, or as part of a business transfer with appropriate protections.

Photos and AI estimates

Meal photos are sent to OpenAI only to produce the requested estimate, and only after the person has agreed to that in the app. The result can be wrong. A person can edit, discard, or confirm the result, and nothing is logged until they confirm it.

The raw meal photo is deleted from our servers automatically as soon as the estimate has been produced, usually within a minute and in every case within 24 hours. Only the resulting food items and nutrition values are kept, as part of the person's food log. Optional progress photos stay under the person's control: they can be removed in the app at any time and are deleted with the account.

Apple Health and Health Connect

A person can choose to connect Apple Health (iOS) or Health Connect (Android). When connected, Trainer reads only steps, active calories, heart rate, sleep, body weight, and workouts, and uses them for one purpose: showing an activity summary inside the app. Every Trainer feature works without this connection.

These summaries are read on the device when the relevant screen is opened. They are not uploaded to our servers, are never written back to Apple Health or Health Connect, and are never used for advertising or marketing, sold, shared with data brokers, or disclosed to any third party, including OpenAI. Access can be revoked at any time in the device's Health app or Health Connect settings, after which Trainer stops reading immediately.

Retention and deletion

We retain information only as long as needed for the purposes described here, legitimate operational needs, security, dispute resolution, and legal requirements. Raw meal photos are deleted automatically once their estimate has been produced, as described above. A person can delete their account in Profile → Privacy & Data → Delete account, or from the web at /delete-account. Deletion normally completes within 24 hours and in every case within 30 days, and removes account data, photos, and local cached data as described on that page. Purchase and subscription records are kept only as long as tax, accounting, and consumer-protection rules require, and security or fraud-prevention records only as long as the matter they relate to remains open.

For Sign in with Apple, the encrypted refresh token is used only for account-deletion revocation and is deleted with the account. If no token is available, the app provides instructions to remove TRAINER from Sign in with Apple in Apple settings.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, including access controls, encryption where appropriate, secure credential handling, and least-privilege vendor access. No service can guarantee absolute security.

Children

Trainer is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child in violation of applicable law. Contact [email protected] if you believe a child provided information.

Choices and rights

Depending on location, a person may have rights to access, correct, export, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing. Contact [email protected] or use the in-app controls. We respond as required by applicable law.

Changes and contact

We may update this policy as Trainer changes. We will post the new effective date and provide any notice required by law. Questions go to [email protected].
